Arch House

BOSTON, MA

Our namesake, The East Boston Arch House is our new construction flagship. Designed by Zephyr Architects, this modern icon faces the entrance to the Greenway at the nexus of the Maverick Square, Jeffries Point, Gove Street, Paris Flats and Eagle Hill neighorhoods of East Boston. Behind the waterstruck brick corbeling and arcaded window progression, features like the French cast iron suspended wood burning fireplace and 'King's Board' width Vermont milled eastern white pine flooring set off the singular, bespoke spaces inside.

Bremen Park Condominiums sits proudly overlooking the pristinely landscaped Bremen Street Park's open green, ampitheatre and Blue Line MBTA Station entrance. Notice the mural we commissioned by Felipe Ortiz entitled "Heart of the Ocean" beside it as featured on the front page of the Boston Globe's Arts section.

the prelude

Boston, MA

These mansard roofed brick twin rowhouses have been quaintly sitting outside Maverick Square since the 19th century. City directories show these rooms have been inhabited by shipwrights, teamsters, painters and more.  Historic photos show a now concealed exterior wall was once adorned by a mural advertisement for the Gumball Factory which it faced. Historic photos also show the windows were once adorned by louvered shutters, which we are currently considering reconstructing.

the watchmaker

Boston, MA

In the face of demolishing this semi-detached centenarian to make way for a larger development, we opted to preserve this handsome Eagle Hill brick rowhouse with its keystone masonry lintels, baskethandle transom, historic millwork and all. The earliest records show it was owned by Edward Lewis Grueby, a local watchmaker, silversmith and jeweler with a shop on the Winthrop Block of Maverick Square.  The Watchmaker moniker is in his honor.

85|ev

Boston, MA

85|EV was a flat-front utiliarian rowhouse which we gutted, expanded and reimagined into this modern stack of chic condominiums we still field compliments from today, including: "you turned this into the nicest looking building on the street" from a formerly skeptical 30+ year neighbor. The diagonal cedar plank facade inlays inspired similar accents on no less than three subsequent facade refreshes executed by strangers on the surround blocks. Renovation designed by, you guessed it: Zephyr Architects.

Curved corners, iron spot brick, vertical gardens: this illustrious project-in-progress is the result of years of diligence, design and legal acrobatics in partnership with our consultants and colleagues, one of whom has taken the baton to carry it through to reality. We are incredibly honored to have served on this project's team and excited to play audience to the Zephyr Architects post modern curved masterpiece's execution.

GREEN HOUSE

Boston, MA

A 21st Century recreation of the time-honored New England Six-Pack multifamily configuration, the East Boston Green House is a pair of semi-attached triple deckers featuring light drenching octagonal bays luxuriously oversized apartments. In addition to painting the exterior a deep dark green to reflect the Greenway facing location, we fully landscaped the former gravel and trash back yard for a rare large private green respite behind the bustle of the energentic urban neighborhood.

Rendered here is a project design we are quite fond of. We honor its sloped roofline interplay and material compoisiton here on the internet. Zephyr Architects, once again, at the design helm.
